Invoking a right never before used by a House Master, Roger B. Merriman '96, Master of Eliot House, deferred until Tuesday permission to the Student Union to distribute a pamphlet in Eliot House yesterday.

In the rules governing the distribution of printed matter in College buildings section F states that "in the Houses distribution will be permitted automatically by the Dean's office except in those Houses where the Master has expressed a desire to give personal approval." Until last night all House masters had disregarded their privilege and had granted automatic privilege to any pamphlets that bore the approval of the Denn's office.

Masters' Meeting Tomorrow

Professor Merriman has waived permission pending the meeting of the House Masters tomorrow afternoon when the whole matter will be discussed, and the advisability of such a rule will be considered, since it is an inconvenient check of the Dean's office and until now has never been used.

The pamphlet in question has been issued by the American Student Union and is addressed to the British People's Convention and the Students of England. It pledges support in keeping America out of war achieving "a people's government, truly representative of the whole people and able to inspire the confidence of the working people of the world."

The Pamphlet has already been distributed in Leverett House although Kenneth B. Murdock '16, House Master, has not yet seen it.
