Ossipee Slalom Races Popular

OSSIPEE, N. H.--President Ken Diller of the Ossipee Sports Development association reports that the weekly Sunday afternoon, open, unsanctioned slalom races--one for men and one for women--have met with an immediately favorable response on the part of the average skiing public. The series began on January 5, to continue each Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Twenty-three men and five women from Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire entered the January 12 races. Eight of the men ran the approximately 2,000-foot course in less than a minute, the winner making it in 52 seconds. The winning woman ran a shorter course in 54 seconds. Each week a gold medal is awarded to the winners of both the men's and women's races. In addition, the lucky ticket holder each Sunday receives a free season pass for the Ossipee ski tow.
