SOUTH AMERICAN TRIP WILL PROMOTE AMITY

NESS AND McREYNOLDS WILL LEAD EXPEDITION

In addition to studying the economic conditions in South America, the Summer School course planned by Economic Tours, Inc., will aim at improvement of relations between the Americas by direct contacts of individuals.

Chief features in this program are visits to productive units such as coffee plantations and hydro-electric plants, and conferences at the end of stays in each of the main cities with government officials and economic experts.

It is planned that each student on the trip will have an opportunity to follow his own particular interest, although the essential aim of the course is to study trade and foreign exchange problems.

Directing the expedition is Professor Norman T. Ness, '33, of Pomona College, and Cecil McReynolds, both long time students of South American affairs.

Twenty students are now trying for the one scholarship offered by the course; over 40 have shown themselves interested, while ten have definitely signed up. The trip is necessarily limited to 30, so definite plans should be made almost immediately.
