To the Editor of the Crimson:
The Harvard Committee on the Regulation of Non-athletic Extra-curricular Activities refused Saturday a request for permission to hold Harvard's Peace Rally on Widener steps. The principal reason given was that there would be danger of rioting, particularly of interruption of the meeting by people from outside the University.
We feel that the committee is being over cautious; we find it difficult to believe that it is necessary to forego our most effective way of holding a rally for peace at a time when our peace is in such great danger, merely because there is a possibilitythat some rowdy elements of the community may interfere. The advantages of an outdoor meeting in the Yard over an indoor meeting are apparent; there should be no difficulty in taking precautions to maintain order.
In the interest of the best expression of Harvard peace sentiment, we hope that the committee will reconsider its decision. The Harvard Peace Rally Committee
