CHICAGO -- President Roosevelt ran up an early lead over Vice-President John Nance Garner in first returns to-night from the Illinois President primaries.
The first 290 of 4,376 precincts in Cook Country Chicago--gave Roosevelt 38,543, and Garner, 7,050.
District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey of New York, unopposed on the Republican preference ballot, polled 40,193 in 550 Cook County precincts.
