Kirland House brought back Harvard's first tank victory over Yale in two years by trimming the Eli college winner, Trumbull, 39 and 18 in New Haven Saturday afternoon.
The well-balanced Deacons on countered surprisingly little difficulty with Trumbull, sweeping the free-style events and outclassing the Bulls in the specialties.
Kirland was off to a good start as Al Mathis, Bill Rines, and Bill Jay sped to victory in the medley in 1:28.8, and Mike Brody and A1 Conger followed this up with a one-two finish in the 50. MalRowe and Teny Facio copped a second and third in the dive, and Bill Jay and Brody swept the century in 58 flat.
Mathis and Eberie gave the Harvard titlists a first and third in the backstroke, won in 1:3.2, and it was all over but the shouting. The Deacons could afford to throw the breastroke and enter a slow relay foursome, which was still good enough to win in 1:43.4
