Quad Win Points Way for Showing In I.C.4A Games

Crimson Track Men Faced by Stiff Competition in the Middle Distances

Buoyed up by the winning performance turned in by the track men at the Quad meet, Jaakke Mikkola and Bill Noufeld faced the happy prospect of Harvard entires capturing a high place in the I C 4A games at Madison Square Garden this Saturday.

The boardmen will be competing in faster company than any they have met this year. When three flashy New York two mile relay teams burned up the track and left the Crimson men only cinders to run on a lap in the lag at the BAA meet, Harvard got a preview of the show that will unfold this weekend.

Crimson Strength Spread

But the strength of the Manhattan, New York and Fordham University aggregations is concentrated in the middle distances. While the native colleges expend their energy in violent warfare in the favored races, Crimson men, representing a much broader sweep of good entrants may be able to gloan enough points in the field events to take a high place in the final score.

George Downing, Howard Mendel, and Bill Shallow, are sure to bring valuable points to the Crimson cause just as they did in the Quad Meet. Steve Madey, Charlie Smith, and Don Donahue, who also gave material evidence of top form operation last Saturday, will be the rest of the Crimson wide frontal attack. With breaks in a few events Harvard may be able to score over 20 points.
