Damon To Give Morris Gray Poetry Reading

Speaker Is Noted Poet, Critic; Two Other Lectures Scheduled

S. Foster Damon, noted poet and critic, will give a poetry reading tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in Emerson 211, under the auspices of the Morris Gray Poetry Fund. Damon is Professor of English and Curator of the Harris Collection of American Poetry at Brown University and author of numerous volumes of verse and studies of English literature.

Professor Robert Hillyer '17 will introduce the speaker and the reading will be open to the public.

In another of tomorrow's public lectures Professor Charles E. Merriam, of the University of Chicago, will present the fifth in the series of Godkin Lectures on "Elements in a Democratic Program," in Littaure Center. The general subject of the series is "On the Agenda of Democracy."

Other lectures on Wednesday's program include an address by Professor E. M. Dodd '10 of the Law School on the Professor Pedro Henriquez-Urena, of the Universities of Buenos Aires and La Plata, the Carles Eliot Norton Professor of Poetry, will speak on "Striving for Intellectual Independence," at the Fogg Art Museum at 8:15 o'clock. "The Modern--Corporation, Private Property and Recent Federal Legislation," in the Langdell Hall Court Room at 8 o'clock
