David E. Place '43, of Adams House and Greenbush, was chosen 1943 football manager after an eight weeks competition, it was officially announced yesterday. He will be assistant manager next year, and hold the top position in his Senior year.

Place prepared for college at Milton Academy, where he was track manager. He won the competition for Freshman manager last year, and is the first man in several years to nab both the coveted positions. Beside breaking this jinx, he overcame the handicap of being on crutches the whole season, because of a skiing accident last Christmas.

Lesser managerships were awarded to George V. B. H. Day '43, of Adams House and Springfield, and Rufus F. Walker '43, of Claverly Hall and Brookline, who will be Junior Varsity and Varsity managers respectively.

The football managerial competition, one of the toughest in College, is a two year affair. Of the dozen or so Freshman candidates, five are chosen to compete their Sophomore year. These are required to assist in spring practice, and report back for work early in September, along with the Varsity team.
