With a happy, hilarious crowd of 30,640 persons banked around the Crosley Field stands, Walters ended the long line of American League World Series conquests with a courageous three-hit pitching performance. It was the first National League victory since October 9, 1937, snapping the American League's victory string at 10 straight.
What started out yesterday to be another American League rout has suddenly been transformed into an even Stephen world series again as result of the performance.
