WASHINGTON--The United States will fuse more than 125 naval vessels and an undisclosed number of airplanes operating in the Atlantic into a now patrol force which will be periodically expanded, the Navy announced tonight.
Officials said the objective is to "increase efficiency in the operations and training of the vessels." The new patrol force will include units of the Atlantic Squadron, the neutrality patrol, and plane forces. It will be under Admiral James O. Richardson, Commander of the U. S. Fleet, and Commanded directly by Rear Admiral Hane Ellis, now chief of the Atlantic Squadron.
