To the Editor of the Crimson:

In Friday's Crimson an absolutely unwarranted slur at the Glee Club was made by Mr. Barish in his column The Music Box. He even went so far as to use the word "debasing" in upbraiding Mr. Woodworth for not including any German music in this year's repertoire. One would think that before such strong words are used in public the writer should be more familiar with the facts.

It so happens that the Club is going to sing works by three German and one Austrian composer, Bach, Brahms, Mendelssolm, and J. Strauss. Any inquiry in proper quarters would have disclosed this fact.

More emphasis, it is true, has been placed on English music this year but no deliberate attempt has been made to cut "axis" composers. In all the years that Mr. Woodworth has been with the Club there have never been less than three or more than four German composes' works in the Glee Club repertoire, with the exception of his first year when there were two. No change has been made this year in this plan. Over the last four years the Club has sung 33 German pieces, 21 Italian, 18 English, 11 French, 11 American, and 8 Russian. The future will not doubt show a similar picture since good music is good no matter where it comes from or who wrote it. Robinson Murray, Jr.,   Manager, Harvard Glee Club.
