Willkie Calls on Women For Aid

DETROIT--Wendell L. Willkie warned wives, mothers, and teachers tonight that the nation "has become infected with cynicism" and called on them "to rekindle the faith of our young people."

"Thousands of our youth, who have lost faith in other people, have formed Communist groups, and have received encouragement from high places," the G.O.P. Presidential nominee said.

He urged mothers to gather their families together on great national holidays--Independence Day or Lincoln's birthday--and read them the "sacred words of the Declaration of Independence, or the Gettyzburgh Address" as the living creeds of our American faith."
