Rudolf Carnap Appointed To Lecture on Philosophy

University Announces Acquisition of Viennese Professor

Rudolf Carnap, leader of the "Vienna Circle" of philosophers, has been appointed visiting lecturer on Philosophy for the 1940-41 academic year, the University announced today. He has been professor of Philosophy at the University of Chicago since 1936, going there from the German University at France.

Professor Carnap is recognized as one of the most influential and productive of the philosophers developed in modern Europe. As the best-known representative of the "logical positivists," he has been a leader in the re-examination of the foundations of scientific concepts and logical thought.
