Nosing out Art Bosworth with a terrific sprint in the final lap of the 220, Eric Cutler, Crimson swimming captain, established a new N. E. A. A. A. U. record for the distance.

In the feature event of Worcester Boys' Club's fourteenth annual open swimming meet, Cutler was clocked in 2 minutes 16.8 seconds, erasing the old mark of 2 minutes 21 seconds established by Gordon Connolly of the Boston Swimming Association in 1934. Boston worth took the lead from the starting line and held it until Cutler overtook him on the gun lap, winning by a body length.
