Unlashing an overpowering attack in the second half, Crimson ruggers defeated the New York Rugby Club in an easy 19 to 8 victory at Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon.
Worst injury of the season occurred in the early part of play when Clive McReady, forward of the New York team, was carried from the field with a broken leg. His loss gave the Crimson a big advantage, as rugby rules prevented the New York team from sending in a substitute to fill his position on the scrum line.
The New Yorkers held the Harvard outfit to a six to five lead in the first half, only to collapse before the kicking onslaught of Dave Colwell in the second. Registering a free kick penalty in the first period, two conversion kicks, and a penalty boot in the second, Colwell led the home team's scoring attack.
Other Crimson scorers were Jack Martin, who converted a try in the first half, and Mike Cohen and Nap Hardenbergh with a try each in the second period.
