With 450 signatures of students and faculty members, the petition urging that Granville Hicks "be seriously considered for any suitable teaching position available" was submitted yesterday to President Conant.
Due to the fact that all the chief college authorities are in New Orleans at the meeting of the Associated Alumni Associations no action will be taken for over a week it was announced in the President office.
Sponsors of the petition expressed considerable satisfaction with the numbers of signatures which almost doubled their original expectations and felt that the University would be forced to take some sort of action in the course of the next few weeks.
