LONDON--Alfred Duff Cooper, former First Lord of the Admiralty said tonight that United States sympathy probably would lead to "active American cooperation" on Britain's side in event of war.
A few hours earlier the British Government rejected proposals that it join the United States in economic reprisals against "disturbers of the peace" or at least punish Germany by means of a trade boycott.
