Widener Plans New Course About History of the Book

Jackson, Hofer Will Teach Printing To Seniors, Graduates

Seniors and graduate students will be able to take a course in "The History of the Book" next year, according to an authoritative announcement from Widener Library yesterday. The new course marks the latest stepping-stone in the rapid progress of the recently created Department of Printing and Graphic Arts.

Although University Hall has not yet recognized the course, official announcement will be issued soon, according to Philip Hofer, curator of the Library's Treasure Room. In charge of the latest addition to the curriculum will be Hofer and William A. Jackson, associate librarian.

Jackson and Hofer plan to cover the study of the technical and artistic aspects of bookmaking and to provide a background for collecting and printing.
