Denying that the number of Freshman mental cases has increased this year, Dr. Arlie V. Bock '15, Henry K. Oliver Professor of Hygiene, announced yesterday that the general health record of the University has improved phenomenally over last year.
"Every ten years--last year and in '29--we have a bad year in which students get all kinds of dispenses," the head of the Hygieno Department declared. "This Fall there has been less illness than in the last couple of years. We've had smaller Still man Infirmary lists and few unusual cases."
Looks to Freshman Tutorial Board
Bock hopes that the new Freshman Tutorial Board instituted this year will be effective in aiding Freshmen to cope with inexperience in note-taking and in meeting the complicated problems of college life. He heartily endorses the CRIMSON's campaign for ridding Harvard Square of the illegitimate tutoring schools.
Only unusual case in Still man this year is David C. Jones '40 who contracted a case of paratyphoid fever this summer. Although in the infirmary for the last three weeks, he is now well on the road to recovery.
