HARVARD GAINS CHESS TITLE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

In the annual quadrangular competition for the Balden-Stephens Chess Trophy held during the Christmas vacation, the Crimson chessmen won the trophy when they succeeded in defeating Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth by comfortable margins.

This was the fourth successive year that Harvard has won the competition, which was held at the Marshall Chess Club in New York City.

The Crimson team was composed of Kenneth White '39, Captain, John J. Fernsler '40, Leonard K. Nash '39, and Clarence W. Hewlett '42. Hewlett took the individual honors.
