Square Is Back to Normalcy as Georgian Walkout Ends

Cafeteria Re-Opens After Compromise Contract Is Signed

Pickets disappeared from Harvard Square at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon when Georgian employees went back to work after a six-day strike.

Terms of the compromise contract, signed after a hearing before the State Labor Relations Board Friday morning, include a seven per cent wage increase, 48 hour week, and a preferential shop.

The termination clause which was the last stumbling block in the path of conciliation, provides that the contract shall expire in six months, and will be automatically renewed unless one side gives notice of wanting to amend it at least 30 days before the contract expires.
