Evidently taking a liking to the new spectrum yellow ball used for the first time on Soldier Field, Northeastern pounded out 18 base-knocks yesterday afternoon to best the Crimson nine 10-8.

Leaders of the Ivy League with seven wins and two losses, the Mitchell nine has only broken even in eight contests played outside the circuit. Yesterday it was pitching that spelled defeat for Crimson, as three hurlers, Slim Curtiss, lefty Edinberg, and don Prouty tossed them up to the Huskies' batters.

Six runs in the first off Curtiss, who hasn't been right in recent games, started off the Northeastern tempest. After the Crimson had run up six tallies by the seventh inning to trail 7-6, the visitors one more went to work and scored twice in the seventh and once in the eighth.

The Varsity, who nicked two Huskies pitchers for nine hits, were generally agreed that there is the little difference between the yellow and white ball.
