After Thursday, June 23, in accordance with action taken by the Widener Library Committee, the normal loan period will be 14 days instead of one month. As in the past, books may be Renewed freely except those which have been asked for by other borrowers.
Monday, May 23, is the last day on which books will be loaned from Widener for a one month period. From Tuesday, May 24, until Friday June 10 all books charged will be due Commencement Day. Following the procedure of former years, students who are to be in the vicinity of Cambridge during the summer and who wish to keep books later than Commencement Day may obtain them for a two week period starting on June 10.
One of the reasons for reducing the loan period to two weeks is the opinion expressed by several undergraduate publications last fall. At that time the month loan was referred to as an "old complaint," and the two week period used in the majority of college and university libraries was suggested.
