Before an interested audience of Milton couples, gone a maying, 18 doughty climbers from the Harvard Mountaineering Club made their first spring climb yesterday at Rattle-snake Cliff in the Blue Hill Reservation.
The primary object of the climb, which was led by Hassler Whitney, assistant professor of Mathematics, was to train new men in rope and rock technique. C. Stacy French, Austin Teaching Fellow in Biochemistry in the Medical School, accompanied the group. Among those who made the trip besides Whitney and French, were: Bishop, Cobb, Geist, Hinton, Marvin, Meigs, Notman, Overton, Sachs, and Smith.
The mountaineers, having sustained injuries no more serious than several ripped trousers and sneakers, will hold their second climb next weekend at Nahant.
