GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION TO HOLD CONFERENCE

All Sessions Will Be Open to Public And Will Deal with Every Aspect of Modern Education

Over one thousand teachers and executives, chiefly from New England, will attend a series of educational conferences at the University next week sponsored by the Graduate School of Education in connection with the forty-seventh annual meeting of the University Teachers Association.

At the meetings, which are to be open to the public, problems covering every aspect of modern education will be discussed. The program of conferences will open Friday with the two day annual meeting of the New England Association of Teachers of English, and beginning on Monday conferences will be held very next week.

Among the noted educators who will speak at the meeting are Lewis Perry, principal of the Phillips Exeter Academy; Bancroft Beatly, president of Simmons College, the Reverend Mr. Francis Talbot, editor of "America" William E. Blatz, director of the St. George's School for child Study, University of Toronto; the Reverend Mr. George Johnson, Professor of Education, Catholic University of America, and director of the Department of Education, National Catholic Welfare Conference; Professor Arthur O. Norton, of Wellesley; Mary Ellen Chase, Head of the English Department of Smith College.

Harvard Men to Speak

Among those members of the University faculty who will speak at the conferences are Howard M. Jones, professor of English; Walter F. Dearborn, Professor of Education; Arthur N. Holcombe, '06, Professor of Government; Howard E. Wilson, Assistant Professor of Education; and Sidney P. Simpson, Professor of Law.

The program of events during the conferences will be as follows:

Friday March 11. At Agassiz House, Radcliffe, the New England Association of Teachers of English will open their thirty-eighth annual meeting with a discussion on the subject, "English and Thinking."

Saturday. The English teachers will hold a session at the Statler Hotel under the leadership of Frank W. Cushwa, of Phillips Exeter Academy.

At the University Biological laboratories, the teachers of science will meet under the direction of Burton L. Cushing, of the East Boston High School.

Two Conferences Monday

Monday. In Lawrence Hall at 8 o'clock there will be conferences. The first, which will concern child psychology, will be led by John W. M. Rothney, Instructor in Education. The other conference will be on vocational guidance.

Tuesday. At 4 o'clock in the Fogg Museum, a conference will be held to discuss secondary instruction and social studies teaching. At 3:15 o'clock, in Phillips Brooks House there will be a discussion on methods for High Schools to develop Civic Conscience.

Wednesday. A conference on "The Training of Teachers" will be held at the Music Building.

Thursday. March 17. Payson Smith, Lecturer on Educational Administration, will conduct a discussion on "Current Problems of Youth"

Friday, March 18, Teachers of the Classes will meet in Sever Hall.

Saturday, March 19. A meeting of the Harvard Teachers Association will be held at Agassiz House, Radcliffe.
