LETTERMEN ELECT THREE LEADERS OF TEAMS FOR 1938-9

First in Ten Years, Lupien Is Captain of Two Varsity Teams; Harding and Blake Strong Veterans

Lettermen of three Varsity sports elected their captains for next year at Dillon Field House yesterday afternoon. Chosen for basketball is Ulysses J. Lupien, Jr. '39; for hockey, F. Austin Harding, Jr. '39; and for squash, George B. Blake '39.

Lupien who lives in Adams House, is from Chelmsford: Harding from Winthrop House and Chestnut Hill, while Blake lives in Senior House and Brookline.

Lupien Captains Two Sports

By his election yesterday Lupien becomes the first Harvard man since George Owen ten years ago to captain two Varsity teams. In addition to playing two seasons on the basketball five, he is captain of the baseball nine in his Junior year after playing one season as first baseman.

Lupien succeeds Vernon Struck as basketball leader. He teamed with Struck both years as first string guard.

Beginning on the Freshman sextet, which he captained, Harding starred as wing on the Varsity for two years and was highscorer this season, He follows S. Trafford Hicks, Jr. '38 as captain.

A veteran, Blake has been playing at number two or three all winter and succeeds the number one man, Captain Alvah W. Sulloway '38.
