Arrangements for the Freshman dance to be held Friday evening, February 18, were announced today by Landgon P. Marvin, Chairman of the Union Committee, in preparation for an intensive ticket-selling drive this week.
The dance will be held in the lower Common Rooms of the Union, and will last from 9 to 1 o'clock. It is the second informal dance sponsored by the Union Committee during the present school year.
Don Gahan to Play
Tickets are $1.50 a couple and $1.25 stag. Marvin stated that if sales were sufficient, the main dining hall of the Union would be used instead of the Common Rooms as the place in which to hold the dance.
Don Gahan and his orchestra will furnish the music, and as a special entertainment feature, Leighton Guptill, sensational young New York pianist, will play during the main intermission. Guptill is famous for his complicated renditions of popular swing. In addition to this he imitates other famous pianists such as Fats Waller.
Posters Wanted
At present several students are busy on posters advertising the dance. Those who create acceptable ones will receive two free tickets. All expenses for materials used in the posters will be taken care of by the Committee. In this way, it is hoped, students will be encouraged to contribute large-sized murals.
As in the preceding Freshman dance, fourteen ushers will be picked from members of the class. Mrs. Delmar Leighton will act as head patroness, with the other four patronesses to be named later.
