With Bubert on a scoring spree that netted 23 points, the Gold-coasters finished up in a blaze of glory yesterday afternoon as they ran rings around a Rambler quintet in a 43 to 9 victory and thereby annexed the intra-mural basketball championship.
After sweeping all before them in the first half of competition, the Adams sharpshooters stumbled momentarily as they lost Slim Curtiss and Doug McLeod, dropping a close decision to Eliot last week. But yesterday even though Dudley surged ahead in the opening minutes of play, the Goldcoasters soon found themselves, and with a vengeance.
In the other games of the afternoon the Deacons downed Eliot 14-8, as Stubbs broke an 8 to 8 tie with some effective shelling in the closing moments. Winthrop pulled the Rabbits' ears with a 23 to 15 victory, with Peden and Stix showing the way, and Hartmann Schmidt starring for the losers. Led by Piper and Harold Stubbs, Lowell downed the Funster five 20 to 18.
Swimming Ends
Another phase of the intramural sports program came to an end yesterday, with the unbeaten deacons firmly ensconced on the top of the natatorial heap, closely followed by the Elephants, who have only one black mark against them.
