REGULAR CREW STARTS AT NEWELL BOATHOUSE

Water Flows Through Tank for First Time; Chace, Comstock Stroke First Two Varsities

With the water flowing through the tank for the first time this winter, regular rowing practice started yesterday at 3 o'clock in the Newell Boathouse.

Eight varsity crews and about seven lightweights took their place on the tank during the afternoon. The lineups for the first two varsity boats were as follows:

Stroke, J. F. Chace '38; 7, J. R. Clark '38; 6, D. Erickson '38; 5, J. H. Gardiner '38; 4, P. Dean '39; 3, D. Talbot '39; 2, C. Hovey '39; bow, W. E. Simmons '39. In the second boat: stroke, A. B. Comstock, Jr. '40; 7, W. N. Dearborn '38; 6, W. N. Kernan 2nd, '40; 5, J. S. Radway '38; 4, W. E. Huenekens '39; 3, P. T. Brooks, '38; 2, J. R. Richards, '40; and bow, R. C. Ninde '39.

Chace, Erickson, Gardiner, and Talbot rowed on the varsity last year and Clark rowed at number four until New London. Hovey and Dean were on the combination boat, while Simmons is a transfer from M. I. T.
