Arthur Rodzinski will present a concert in Symphony Hall this evening with the Cleveland Orchestra. Under its present leader, who is now in his fifth year in this position, the orchestra has acquired an increased fame as one of the finest in the country.
A feature of tonight's concert will be the performance of the "Dance of the Seven Voila" from Richard Strauss's "Salome," and also the Finale of this opera, which is receiving its premiere in Boston.
The title part will be sung by Rose Pauly, famous interpreter of Strauss roles, both in central Europe and at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. Mino Pauly's "Elektra" has been outstanding in the current New York operatic season.
Also included on the program are Strauss's "Till Eulenspiegel," a Shostakovich Symphony (Op. 10), and Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, arranged for orchestra by Leo Weiner.
