THE MAIL

To the Editor of the Harvard Crimson:

It seems to me it is about time Harvard University snapped out of its lethargy and realized that, in spite of its efforts, the two sexes cannot be kept apart. More important, that worse and less permanent relationships are formed when such attempts are made.

The story of the graduate cafeteria appearing in the Crimson of December 15 showed a narrowness on the part of the University that is not one of its famed assets. To use its financial power to further a tradition that is a generation behind the times and not in accordance with the many advances it ahs made along other educational lines is to deny an even more valuable heritage, that of liberalism. Very truly yours,   B. F. Gill '40.
