COMMUTERS, ELEPHANTS TRIUMPH IN BASEBALL

Eliot Gains Second Victory of Season By Trampling Leverett 7-1; Dudley Noses Out Winthrop

Dudley conquered Winthrop 5-4 and Eliot gained its second victory of the year over Leverett 7-1 yesterday in the Indoor Baseball contests at Briggs Cage.

A three run rally by the Puritans in the sixth inning was not enough to turn the tide against the Commuters who were out to make up for their defeat at the hands of Kirkland Monday. Larry Alexander twirled for the winners while Pierce Butler was on the mound for Winthrop.

Hartsone Stars

Leon Hartsone starred at bat for Dudley with two hits and Charley Baumgarten and Ed Cherbonnier each gathered two for Winthrop. The third basemen of both teams were outstanding in the field, Irving Downs for Winthrop and Mel Avergun for the commuters.

Ben Gill, Elephant third baseman, was injured in the last inning of the nightcap when he collided with Ernie Sargeant, Leverett third baseman. It was not till the last inning that the Bunnies managed to avert a whitewash by scoring their lone run.
