Observant members of Pierson College have noticed with somewhat a sense of relief the removal of a Harvard seal which withstood the hostile gaze of faithful Elis for many a lonely month....
This seeming paradox existed due to the fact, that Abraham Pierson was a student from the Charles River Emporium.... Since at the time of the founding of the College there was no official seal, it was thought appropriate to place the arms of the former prexy's alma mater in a position which cried out for some specimen of the heraldic art.
Such heraldic paradox is not entirely banished from the campus of Uncle Elihu, however, as the arms of John Harvard's rival institution still flaunt themselves boldly in Saybrook Court, where they are embossed in more permanent stone.... --The Yale Daily News.
