To the Editor of the Crimson:
Fearing that the recent pictures in the Collegiate Digest may have added to the misapprehension which, it seems, jazz cannot escape, we hope that you may be able to print this explanation.
(1) We have nothing to do with phrases like "hot harmony," "killer-diller" or "swing." We call it jazz.
(2) The pictures were taken and posed strictly as a gag, although the captions are very misleading.
(3) We have a serious and sincere appreciation of an art too often neglected and more often misunderstood.
(4) None of us has ever requested an autograph. Very truly yours, James Higginson '38, Jeffrey Fuller '38, George Frazier '33, Edward Barnes '39.
