NATIONAL AWARDS OPEN TO 16 OR MORE OF '42

Applications for Scholarships with Stipend of Up to $1000 Must Be in by March 15

At least 16 Freshmen entering this year from high schools in a list of 15 states will receive National Scholarships, carrying maximum stipends of $1,000, President Conant announced last night. Applications must be filed by Tuesday, March 15.

There are new 66 students in the college who held these scholarships. They may be held by anyone, regardless of his financial circumstances, and the stipend is adjusted accordingly, varying from $100 to $1,000. Students who maintain honor records in their Freshman year will have their scholarships continued throughout College, with maximum stipends of $1,200 a year.

At least ten scholarships will be awarded this year to incoming students now residing and attending high school in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky or Tennessee; and at least six in Louisiana, New Mexico, California, Oregon, or Washington.
