TRACK MEN GAIN 11TH PLACE IN I.C.4A MEET

Haydock, Herrick, Brennan, and Young Only Crimson Men to Score in New York Classic

In an I.C.A.A.A.A. meet that saw Ben Johnson of Columbia the first of the century to win three events--the 100, 220, and broad jump--and Pitt's ace John Woodruff capture both the half and the mile, Harvard gained only eight and a half points.

Evidently Harvard and Yale reached their peaks in last week's dual meet, for while the Crimson participators turned in a worse than average performance to gain 11th place in the team scoring Yale could muster only four and a half more for eighth place. Pitt and Columbia, the two favorites, battled it out to the last event, from the results of which Pitt became the champion by half a point.

The Crimson scorers were Bob Haydock in the high jump, John Herrick in the discus, and Steve Brennan and Ed Young in the hammer. The other ten men of Jaakko's team were shut out in Friday's trials.

Bob Haydock with three other men tied for second place in the high jump at 6 ft. 1-2 in. The fact that Badman of Yale did not place in this event makes Haydock definitely a member of the Oxford Cambridge team. John Herrick in the discus turned in almost the poorest distance he has done this spring. His best was a little over 141 ft. while against Yale a week ago he threw 148 ft.

Brennan and Young captured fourth and fifth places in the hammer, Brennan throwing the iron ball 155 ft. 1 in. Young following him up with 152 ft. 3 1-2 in.

This meet finishes up the season for the Crimson track men with the exception of the Oxford-Cambridge meet July 10 in which some of them will compete along with Yale's top performers.
