Observing the thirtieth anniversary of the Harvard Forest at Petersham yesterday, members of the Corporation and Board of Overseers began a three-day tour of inspection of University departments.
The work of the Forest, the oldest scientifically operated demonstration tract of its kind in America, has been substantially reorganized in the past year by Ward Shepard, Director, who took the post last May after serving in the United States Departments of the Interior and Agriculture.
Part of their annual conference on University policies, the tour of the Overseers today will include inspection of the new million-volt X-Ray unit, recently installed in the Huntington Hospital, and the Dental and Medical Schools. Continuing their study of research programs and methods of instruction, the group will visit the Fogg Art Museum tomorrow.
