Outplaying the visitors in every department the Columbia Lions smashed the Crimson Varsity quintet to the floor 38-25 in New York last night.

Only the singlehanded efforts of Long Bill Gray, who tallied 16 points, kept the invading aggregation within seeing distance of the boys from Morningside Heights.

League Positions Altered

By its victory Columbia moves into a three way tie for third place with Yale and Harvard in the Eastern League. Each team has six victories and five defeats to its credit. At the same time, by losing, Harvard left Dartmouth in the clear for second place at eight wins and four losses.

In last night's affray the score was tied in the early moments at 4-4 but the Crimson soon fell behind. The Blue team was showing superior ballhandling, coupled with an impregnable zone defense.

At half time the score stood at 19-12 for Columbia. At the start of the second stanza the Feslermen came with a rush as Gray dropped through three points in succession.

Gray Injured

Here Gray was wounded in the eye, and then Columbia went out in front not to be headed again.

For the Crimson the second line guards, Dick Wills and Jack Dampeer, started the game but were soon replaced by Vernon Struck and Lupe Lupien. Yet last night no Harvard man with the exception of Gray, who went the distance despite his injury, could garner more than three iotas.

The home team regulars averaged eight points apiece.
