Unanimously passed by the Student Council yesterday was an amendment to its constitution providing for election of the Junior Committee of the Senior Album in the third week of the second term rather than after spring vacation, according to an announcement by John B. Bowditch '37, President of the Council.
The amendment, which will constitute an important change in the By-Laws of the Council, was proposed last month by Neil G. Melone '37, chairman of this year's Album committee and a member of the Council. The Council's regulations provide that all amendments must be posted in a public place for 30 days before being voted upon, and that a two-thirds majority is sufficient for passage. The 30 days were up several days ago, and the amendment is now incorporated in the By-Laws of the Council.
The advantage of the new rule as stated by Melone is that it will enable Juniors to get active experience in the running of the book in their Junior year, and so be better prepared to take over its management as seniors.
