FINNISH CHORUS WILL GIVE PUBLIC CONCERT

54 MEMBERS TOUR UNITED STATES FOR FIRST TIME

Touring America for the first time, the male chorus of Finland's Helsinki University will give a public concert at Sanders Theatre, Friday evening, January 7, under the auspices of the Division of Music.

Through the generosity of Mrs. Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge of Boston, admission to the concert will be free, it was announced yesterday. Tickets will be required and may be obtained at the Harvard Music Building beginning Tuesday, January 3.

Sibelius Honorary Member

Jean Sibelius, Finnish composer, is an honorary member of the chorus, and has written many of his best known choral songs for the Helsinki group.

Honorary sponsors of the current tour which opens on Friday, December 24, include: Serge Koussevitzky, conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Walter Damrosch, conductor emeritus. New York Symphony Orchestra, Leopold Stokowski, conductor of the Philadelphia orchestra, John Barbirolli conductor of the New York Philharmonic-Symphony orchestra, and Werner Jannsen, conductor and composer.
