Coach Bernie White's Kirkland team, which yesterday virtually clinched the House championship for the second year, is a true powerhouse. A versatile backfield containing no less than three triple threats, Captain Wiley Mayne, Dick Wills, and Jack McClure, and a rugged line have made the Deacons the team to beat all season.

By defeating both Leverett and Kirkland, however, Winthrop House can manage to finish in a tie with the Deacons. Coached by Ken Ryan of Utah State, the Puritans have perhaps the strongest defensive team in the league, with George Cole at tackle and Captain Moore and Charlie Gillilland at guards as the standouts. The backfield is built around quarterback "Little Joe" Hindle, a good ball carrier and an outstanding quick kicker.

Eliot in the thick of the race up until yesterday's game with Kirkland, has won its victories through sheer power. Bob Uihloin, the biggest man in House ball, and Skip Batchelder, scrappy center, are the mainstays of the line, while speedy Captain Cartor White and Ashley Trope, kicker and passer, are the outstanding backs.

The Rabbits from Leverett House provided the season's biggest surprise by going through four games undefeated and unscored upon before losing a heart-breaker to Kirkland. Tackle Bill Daughaday and punter extraordinary Bill Heywood have been important cogs in the defense, as also have been Chip Harkness and Art Haussermann, while the "third Bill," Bill Spang, was the chief offensive threat. An injury received in the Dudley game benched this shift spinning back for the rest of the season, a severe blow to the team.

Weakened by injuries and by the fact that several key men are concentrating in laboratory courses, Lowell has been an in-and-outer all season. Captain Ralph Murphy and Hal Pinanski have featured the backfield while Eric "Blink" Reppun has been an immovable body at left guard.

The Adams eleven, which has fasted victory only once, has three outstanding gridsters in linemen Orman Brown and Paul Counihan and backfieldman Hubert "Flash" Hauck.

Although its record is none too impressive, Dudley has conquered its old bugabee, the default, and they should be a good outfit for the future since their two leading lights, center Berute Bergman and plunging back Ed Wall, are Sophomores.

Dunster, with only a sheleton squad, has had a difficult season, but Dill Lipsitt and Hugh Harvard have turned in some brilliant games for the Funsters.
