Social service in the poorer sections of Cambridge is now being conducted by Christ Church, under the supervision of Mr. Peyton Short.
Regular meetings of the workers, who are placed by Mr. Short, are held in his house. These meetings are taken up with a brief religious service, a discussion of the work, and a talk on the control of juvenile delinquency.
Originally the idea of Reverend Frederick Kellogg, better known to his fellow workers as Red, this activity is an interesting beginning in social service on a religious basis in this section.
While retaining its non-sectarian policies, Phillips Brooks House is collaborating with the church in attempting to better existing conditions, which have been termed intolerable by those whom they have affected.
