SWIMMING AND TENNIS LOSE FRESHMAN FAVOR

Swimming Still Holds Lead With Class Of '41 But Tennis Drops to Third as Crew Succeeds

Freshman athletic fall registration shows a decided change over last year's and that of 1935. Swimming holds the lead as it has for the past two. Swimming has taken a decided drop, however, though it is still with a greater following than two years ago. In general the various activities incline to balance each other. The minor sports gain supporters, while some of the larger ones decrease in participators.

Tennis goes to third place, giving way to crew, which claims but two more members over last year. The difference is found in tennis, which steadily decreased from 212 to 182 to 125. Football shows a slight increase as does soccer.

Fencing falls away sharply, while singles conforms with its big sister shells by an increase. Thirteen Freshmen are out for managerial positions, and 19 have signed up for tumbling and apparatus.
