ELIOT, WINTHROP WIN HOUSE FOOTBALL TILTS

Puritan Eleven Ekes Out 6-0 Victory Over Dudley as Rabbits Lose in One Tally Game

Defenses refused to crumple yesterday as House footballers rang up only two touchdowns in two games. Winthrop was good for one in defeat of Dudley, 6-0, while Eliot tallied the other to earn a 7-0 decision over Leverett.

Highlights: Winthrop 6, Dudley 0--BF Dudley fumbled on the kickoff but took the ball back on downs after a goal line stand. Irv Lewis's kick put the Commuters out of trouble.

In the second period Balanchard of Winthrop scored on a line buck after a 30-yard march. The pass for the extra point failed.

Dudley's attack improved greatly in the second half. More timely interference would have aided further. Black and Lewis stood out. On the defense the Commuters remained firm. In the fourth they took the ball on the 7-yard line to prevent a score.

For the Puritans Joe Peden and "Little Joe" Hindle carried the mail, with the latter's third period collin cornor kick having a lot to do with halting any Dudley march before it could organize. In the Winthrop line, Charley Moore and "Blubber" Peters bore the brunt.

Eliot 7, Leverott 0

Outplayed the greater part of the game, Eliot managed to push over a touchdown late in the second quarter to de-fur the Rabbits 7-0. "Slugger" White, spark-plug of the Elephant attack, went over for the score on a 30-yard slash off tackle.

"Aggy" Trope's kick for the extra point was blocked, but taking advantage of the new rule, he scooped up the ball and walked over for the seventh point while Club Levi stood by in amazement.

Leverett had put on a great drive at the beginning of the game but lost their chance plus the ball by fumbling on the 5-yard line. In the closing moments, nice running by Bill Spang again put Leverett in a threatening position, but time ran out.
