THE MAIL

To the Editor of the Crimson:

In Friday's Mail Mr. Hays writes: ". . . the N.S.L. and the S.L.I.D., of which it (the new Harvard Student Union) is largely composed . . ." This assertion is quite unfounded. Figures obtained from two reliable sources give the following memberships to the uniting organizations:

Peace Society, 72; Liberal Club, 55; N.S.L., 25; S.L.I.D., 15.

Thus the N.S.L. and S.L.I.D. together contributed less than 1-4 of the membership of the H.S.U., and even less when the influx of previously unaffiliated members is taken into account. C. C. Means, Jr. '38
