CORNELL MAY BE ON CRIMSON GRID IN FALL OF 1938

Played First Game With Harvard in 1890--Ithacans Have Won Victory Once in Twelve Tries

Cornell will be on the football schedule in 1938 if arrangements now being made between the Athletic Associations of the two colleges are successful.

Although no definite agreements have yet been signed, it was learned yesterday in the H.A.A. that preliminary negotiations have been going on for some time.

William J. Bingham '16, director of Athletics, merely stated that he "had nothing to say beyond the 1937 schedule."

Last Game in 1916

The last time the Ithacans were in Cambridge was in 1916, when Harvard won by a score of 23 to 10; they first played football here in 1890, when they were beaten 77-0.

Since that time Harvard and Cornell have met 11 times, Cornell winning only once. That was in 1915, Eddie Mahan's year, when they won 10 to 0, to beat an undefeated Crimson eleven and spoil an unblemished, three year record of All-American halfback Mahan.

Previous Record

Other scores of past years are: 1913, 23-6; 1910, 27-5; 1909, 18-0; 1897, 24-5; 1896, 13-4; 1895, 25-0; 1894, 22-12; 1893, 34-0; and 1892, 20-14.

Last fall the Ithacans didn't field a very strong team, being badly beaten by Dartmouth and several other colleges. As a result, alumni pressure was so great that Gil Dobie was forced to resign, but was immediately snatched up by Boston College. The Cornell Freshman team however, was the strongest in many years.
