Three Seniors Win Henry Fund Fellowship for Foreign Study

Three Yale Fellows Appointed in "Friendship" Plan for Year at Oxford or Cambridge

Robert C. Hall '36 of Brookline, Sidney S. Alexander '36 of Forest City, Pa., and August C. Helmholz, 2d '36 of Rochester, Minn., are the three Harvard Seniors who have been chosen to receive the Charles and Julia Henry Fund Fellowships for study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities during the next academic year.

The announcement was made yesterday by the American Trustees of the Henry Fund, of which the Harvard representatives are President James B. Conant, Jerome D. Greene '96, and Dean A. C. Hanford.

Three Yale Fellows Also

Three Fellows from Harvard and three from Yale have been named this year. The Yale representatives are David T. Dellinger '36, Bernard C. Rankin '36, and Robert A. Rosenbaum '36.

The Henry Fund was founded by the late Lady Julia Lewisohn Henry "in the earnest hope and desire of cementing the bonds of friendship between the British Empire and the United States." The Fellowships are given to English students for study at American universities and to American students for study at English universities in alternate years. Each is valued at five hundred pounds sterling and is for one year of study at either Oxford or Cambridge.

Candidates for the Fellowships must submit evidence of distinction in some recognized branch of learning and must present a satisfactory scheme of study to the Committee of Management at the time when their candidacy is made known.

Of the three Harvard recipients of the Fellowships, Hall will go to Oxford and Alexander and Helmholz will study at Cambridge.

All Phi Beta Kappa Men

Hall attended Brookline High School. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a member of the Student Council, an editor of the CRIMSON a member of the Harvard-Yale track team which competed against the Oxford-Cambridge team last summer, and head cheer leader. He lives in Leverett House, and his field of concentration is government.

Alexander attended Forest City, Pa., High School. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was on the Red Book editorial board, and took part in debating. He lives in Lowell House, and concentrates in economics.

Helmholz is a graduate of the Shattuck School, Fairbault, Minn. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the tennis team, has participated in House athletics, and was one of the managers of the Hasty Pudding show in 1934. He is a member of Winthrop House, and his field of study is physics
