THE MAIL

To the Editor of the Crimson:

Your champion for cheated students is barking up the wrong tree when he attacks the Mil. Sci. department. Apparently he has a room-mate who is taking courses offered by that department, and is basing his argument on just what has been told him. He gives the impression of a freshman frantically hunting for something to write about a half hour before the deadline at Warren House.

After a few years of experience in what they are doing, the powers that be in the war department should certainly be able to know the minimum amount of information a man can have in order to command his subordinates. Perhaps the level is low, I don't know, but you must realize that a second lieutenant isn't much and is in command of men who haven't had even the little education he has. If your advocate raising the I.Q. of the army why don't you say so?

After bemoaning the presence of so many little subjects in the curriculum, you then go on in favor of more unrelated subjects. Remember that the Mil. Sci. Dept. is training men for the field artillery, not in chemical warfare, coast artillery, anti-craft warfare, all of which are separate branches of the army . . .

If you must heckle something, heckle the person who writes the Crime. He ain't what he used to be. L. Guy Huntley '37
