Musical comedy will be the mood of the Dunster Funster take-off on the parietal rules, planned for the evening of Wednesday, December 16.
John H. Burns '37 is now in the creative throes of preparing "The Christmas Sparrow," alias "Double or Nothing," which is based on Dickens's immortal Christmas play; while Irving G. Fine '37, accompanist for the Glee Club, is composing music somewhat more complicated than the Gilbert and Sullivan variety. The score is said to contain not only tricky rhythmic figures, but also more than a few dissonances in the modern manner.
Besides the orthodox "Chorus of Harvard Students," the Funsters are offering a special attraction in the form of a "Chorus of Biddies," led by one Mrs. Flaherty. La Flaherty will sing a featured number, "I Am the Queen of the Biddies," and will dance in the style of Anne Corio.
In charge of the acting will be the expert Dickensian director, Francis J. Whitfield IG., while Walter E. Teschan '37 will have the task of making students look like biddies. Members of the committee in charge of production are: Stephen Greene '38, Philip S. Haring '37, John S. Kelly '37, and Teschan.
Trials for all parts are scheduled for next Monday evening between 7 and 10 o'clock. As usual at the annual Christmas party, dancing will follow the play.
